I was rather excited about all this “Beast from the East” business after we got a proper flurry of snow on Tuesday. The weather reports were all squawking on about how we were all going to be engulfed in snow by Thursday or Friday, with no hopes of getting out without actually owning a sleigh. So I got out my padded trousers and my mittens and my extra-woolly hat; I checked my supply of hot chocolate and hot water bottles; I even stayed the night with a friend who lives closer to my work so I could walk if necessary (not that I’m complaining, it was lovely!). And what happens? Not a measly flake since Tuesday!
So here you are. The Beast from the East: Actual size.
Points to anyone who gets the reference!
This one is definitely a threat ! As long as it looks in this direction, I am safe. Well done, Iris !

Thanks! Hmm, the Beast and your penguin are both looking in the same direction – I wonder what they are looking at?!

No points for Mr Mitten’s. What’s the answer please?
I think the angular psychedelic beast is rather cool. 😃⛄😈

Glad you like it Mr Mittens! It’s a scribbledoodle -a scribble turned into a doodle, no points to anyone for that one- which is why the angular. I have no excuse for psychedelicness.
***ANCIENT SPOILER ALERT***
The reference is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, from an episode where everyone is very worried about a Fear Demon that is going to come to their town and be scary; they look it up in some demon encyclopaedia and it does look very frightening. But then the demon appears and it’s only 6 inches tall and they look at the illustration again and it says ‘actual size’. In my version of the episode they then make friends with the monster and feed it M&Ms and it opens a detective agency and fights crime with a human sidekick (it gets to ride on their shoulder).
